I’m reading a book by Selwyn Hughes, and was struck by the following quote he included from Toynbee, the British historian.
“When a civilization–or an individual comes up against a problem, it or he will react in one of four ways: archaism, futurism, detachment, or transformation.”
Before I could let myself think further about his statement, I wanted to know more about the person named Toynbee, and discovered that he was the British author of more than 150 books.
Since it is now late and my day started very early this morning, I’m going to finish my thoughts in tomorrow’s blog. May you have a “happy start to your day”, as my granddaughter and I talked about very early this morning!
